Hurricane Wilma blew through south Florida this morning. We got lucky. We only had 30-40 mph winds and rain. Luckily it blew through fast. Here are some pics I took at the beach. Check out the erosion. The flag is next to the beach walkover.

We had a hurricane party last night and steamed oysters and drank Hurricanes. I made some yummy clam chowder. There was lots good food and lots of fun.

Larry is still doing well recovering from his surgery. He's seems to be pacing himself pretty well.

We took Larry to Orlando 2 days ago for major knee surgery. He had a ruptured ligament in his left back leg and he had a procedure called TPLO - Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy. They had to cut and reshape the tibial head and insert hardware. It's going to be a long recovery but he's worth it. We brought him home yesterday. Today, he was pretty pathetic. He had a lot of pain. I have some web pages dedicated to Larry's surgery on Dave's web site at www.drmcwheels.com. I'll be doing frequent updates with photos there. Here is a pic of his leg.

It's been pretty gloomy and wet for the last few days. Rain is so depressing. It could be worse.

We got some new music DVDs yesterday. Dave and I both like to veg on the couch (when we can) and watch them. First, we watched "Willie Nelson - Live at Billy Bob's". I get a lot of ribbing and eye rolling about my love for Willie. But, I can't help it, he's the man. However, this DVD was not one of his best. Willie is 72 now and he's starting to show it. It made me a little sad. I think it's time for him to sit back, smoke a fatty, drink a beer and enjoy the cowboy ways.

Next we watched "Los Robles - Live at the Fillmore". OMG!!! Where have I been for all these years/ This DVD is my second all time favorite (Right behind Santana's Supernatural)!!!! I love this band! They are sooooo awesome! I'll let you know about the others as we watch them.

Allan, the Nurse Manager at Oceanside's ER turned me on to this website for recipes. It is www.recipezaar.com. It's a really good site if you like to cook and are on the prowl for good recipes. Other recipe sites that I use are www.allrecipes.com and www.foodtv.com.

Speaking of recipes, we've been trying to get organized in case of another hurricane. During our last evacuation, one of the things I HAD to pack was my recipe box. That may seem lame but it has all the recipes that have been given to me by family and friends or great ones that I've tried and want to repeat. It includes things like Dad's fudge, Dad's Chicken & Dumplings & cornbread dressing, Mom's pie crust and pecan pie, JoAnn's salads, Kathleen's peanut butter balls and the famous "Opium Salad". So I was thinking that if we had a disaster, fire, or whatever, I'd really miss my recipe box and picture albums. Dave and I already went through the photo albums and scanned old photos and saved them to discs. Last week, I created an Excel spreadsheet with all my recipes. I'm saving it to a CD and I also uploaded it to my hotmail account. That way I can access it from anywhere.

Hey, check out the new bike. The picture doesn't really show how pink it is. I love it. It's an Electra Townie. Karen, next door, has a Townie that's white with flowers. My bike has 3 headlights, rear lights, AM/FM radio, a horn, a carrying case, coaster and hand brakes. Dave and I have been taking night rides. I can peek in windows, ha ha.

Sorry I haven't posted for a while. It's been a busy few weeks. We just got back from the Chart House in Daytona. Betty treated us to dinner. Yummy! Everything was just perfect. Then we came home and Dave, Karen and I went for a night ride on our bicycles. I'll post pictures later of my new bike. I love it!

Dave 1 and Dave 2 got new pistols. Then we went to the firing range. It's the first time I ever shot a gun. I was very nervous at first but after about 15-20 rounds I started to relax and enjoy it. Dave taught me how to fire a 12 gauge shot gun. It was easier than I thought. A doctor at work said I'd be coming in with a bruise shoulder but I did ok. Here are some pictures:
